Useful bit for flattening with a router like a spoilboard or a slab of wood. Unknown top speed...

This is a useful bit, but it really concerns me that the max speed is not shown anywhere - not on the case and not on the bit. This is very large and heavy for a normal router and you can easily create a real hazard by running it too fast or without securing your router carefully. The machining seems ok - the one I got had a sloppily finished center section. The good news is that the inserts are a common size - 12mm x 12mm x 2.2mm and 35 degrees. The front of the bit seems to be square with the shank, so it works like a zero-rake cutter.

    Heavy and large surfacing bit

The bit is as advertised and appears to be good quality; there are no apparent manufacturing defects and the machining looks clean. The carbide cutters are sharp. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but as others have pointed out, it’s a pretty large and heavy bit. You will need a powerful router, and you’ll want to make sure the speed is set appropriately.

    Good quality.

This a nicely balanced, sharp, smooth cutting surfacing bit. It is big so you need a powerful router to properly use it. It has cutters that can be rotated if one side gets damaged or dull. There are 4 faces to each cutter so it will be usable for a long time. Recommended.

I have a number of planer/surfacing bits—this is the best

Of the bunch. A bunch that includes ones of US manufacture. If you need to understand this bit, prior reviews have described it very well. If you already know., then just buy this if you would benefit from its capabilities.

    Works great on redwood slabs

I use this bit to flatten a an 8 foot long by 3 foot redwood slab. It did a great job. This task required only one of the four sides of the blades to accomplish, so the ***** should work for many slabs. Please note that this bit is huge, and requires a large, powerful router, like the Bosch 1617 I used. don’t waste your time trying to flatten slabs with battery operated routers. Also, I did not try this bit on hardwood, that would require even more power. Happy customer.
